Generative BadMints

The BadMints launch is nearing so we wanted to release some more details about Bads!

We have already discussed Base Yield — constant yield determined by BadMint type generated by simply existing in a wallet — and BadPools — pools you can deposit your Bads into in order to earn pooled yield. These yield mechanisms set BadMints apart from other NFTs and bridge the gap between DeFi and NFTs.

Earning yield and participating in governance is great and beneficial to both the community and the developers. However, we wanted to add a personal touch to each of our BadMints in order to provide the holder with a means of gauging individual BadMint value within the BadMints types.

With that, we are announcing Generative BadMints! During the minting process of a Bad, a random hash is generated and attached to NFT on chain. This hash is used in a deterministic fashion to create a generative BadMint avatar. Every level of BadMints — Legendary, Epic, Exotic, Rare, and Common — pulls from its associated repository of avatar parts: body, eyes, mouth, background, and other rare markings (if you’re lucky!). Some parts are specific to the BadMint type, others are shared across levels. This means that some Common tokens may share rare attributes with Legendary tokens, potentially increasing their demand!

Here are randomly generated avatars from each level:

Legendary
Epic
Exotic
Rare
Common

Each BadMint type will use its respective background color scheme to easily identify the token types. Some BadMints will look a bit sad, some will look angry, some goofy, and some majestic…it’s all a roll of the Ethereum hash!

We’re excited to launch and see these BadMints start earning their keep by generating you yield. Reach out to us on Twitter if you have any questions about BadMints, BadPools, or the Generative Avatar process!
